What do you think about, when you're alone?
Did the thoughts flood your mind, where the light finally shone?
Her love was your food, and now you are skin and bones.
Life is the road, walk on the stones.
See that old store front and imagine the times that passed
Look beyond that cracked window's glass
Time may have stopped here but it wont last
The door is closed, open it fast.
You see it now, on this old wooden floor
The scuff marks from the shoes of others before
The old walls that heard the stories of hearts that poured
Of women and men that they adored.
Leave the past behind, open your heart
Its not an end, instead a start
To love again anew, thats the best part
Words to romance, Love's an art.

Unsaid But Not Unfelt
I tilt my head back
And look at the sky,
There is no reason
To question why.
There's no explanation
Needed be,
I'm not so blind,
That I couldn't see.
I never expected
More than what I got.
I never wanted to
Put you in a spot,
That you didn't need to be
And that place was to be with me.
But, everything's all right you see,
Where we aren't, is good enough for me.
And look at the sky,
There is no reason
To question why.
There's no explanation
Needed be,
I'm not so blind,
That I couldn't see.
I never expected
More than what I got.
I never wanted to
Put you in a spot,
That you didn't need to be
And that place was to be with me.
But, everything's all right you see,
Where we aren't, is good enough for me.

Belongs To The Ages
I walk along, in this silent valley,
Stones and columns shape the paths and alleys.
Quiet slumber beneath the grass,
Carved out dates, marking of times passed.
The families and friends all at slumber,
Resting at peace, six feet under.
Above in life, some ordinary, some of fame,
Now below at repose, all are the same.
Tread lighty here, those who remain.
They are the sun through your window pane.
Only gone, the body part,
They still live on, within your heart.

They still live on, within your heart.
Holding Hands With Winter (2001)
Holding hands with winter, maybe I'm not alone.
Loving feelings are slowly leaving me,
Opening my heart meant truly seeing me,
But of course, you wont be at home.
I will not forget you, and how much you meant to me,
And more times often than not, you made me so happy.
Still, it's the memories that keep me by your side.
I just now have to stem this loves tide.
I built a strong love for you, it was not hard to do.
You carried me away, and I felt your love too.
No one else was in my eyes, I saw only you.
Its going to be tough but I'll make it through.
I regret the day our love died,
And I no longer captured your heart.
Some new love has taken my place.
That's the hardest part.
Knowing you wont hold me again,
The closeness of you I'll miss.
And the toughest thing of all,
From you, not another kiss.
Only the days and nights will hear me,
And in my dreans we will meet only,
As I say to you softly,
In my heart, you will always be.
Loving feelings are slowly leaving me,
Opening my heart meant truly seeing me,
But of course, you wont be at home.
I will not forget you, and how much you meant to me,
And more times often than not, you made me so happy.

First things first
I would like to dedicate this blog to the memory of my father, Robert Perkins, Jr. He would have been so proud. :-)
